PAC represents at US Grappling Chicago
All the hard work and dedication on the mats paid off Saturday as the Team McVicker BJJ competition team from Peoria Athletic Club raided the mats at US Grappling in Chicago. Thirteen competitors brought back fifteen medals, including 7 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze!
The team looked incredibly composed under the pressure of competition, despite several first-time competitors and seasoned competitors moving up in skill level and weight class. This was a great warm up for the IBJJF Chicago Open and we are anticipating a larger group of competitors yet!
There were several standout performances over the weekend. Anthony Anzaldu and Brandon Allonby closed out their division to meet in the finals and shake hands over a gentleman’s decision giving Anthony the gold. Tyler Shadley submitted the bracket to win Gold in his division. And, in the most impressive showing of the tournament, after several tournaments in which he recently placed second or third, Alec Wilcosky had his day, submitting all opponents in his no gi division for gold, and then also taking gold in his gi division.
The official results as best we know at this point are as follows:
Alec Wilcosky: Gold gi and no gi
Brandon Allonby: Gold no gi, 2 Silver gi
Andy Guillotte: Silver gi
Theresa Stoodley: Gold gi
Anthony Anzaldua: Gold gi
Tyler Shadley: Gold gi
Nolan Gillies: Bronze no gi, Silver gi
Kendrick Bailey: Silver no gi
Raymond Meister: Bronze gi
Vince Arguelles: Gold no gi
Chris Malone: Silver gi
We are all quite proud of our team, and the opportunity to represent McVicker Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Alright… enough celebrating. We train tonight at 6:15 – get your gi on and let’s get ready for the next one!!!
